Stem Education Update

Since 2016, United Way, in partnership with UTSI, has presented many different STEM education opportunities and workshops to the youth in our community.


Pitch competition at cchs

In February, students from area high schools brought their most innovative ideas using STEM materials (robots, iOS applications, etc.). Scholarships were awarded to the three top presenters.

164 students from Moore County Schools and students from Coffee County Middle School tookpart in programs and workshops inside the STEMmobile provided by Tennessee Tech. Inside, the students were able to take part in hands-on experiences including color mixing, wind energy, and computer programming.

At College Street Elementary and Farrar Elementary, a total of 100 participants including children and teachers were given the opportunity to construct and launch straw rockets with the assistance of members from UTSI and AEDC.

In December of last year, over 500 members from Tullahoma City Schools took part in learning more about STEM education including Finch Robots and other activities provided by AEDC.
